| There are initiatives to contribute globally to environmental countermeasures and anti-pollution technology, including cutting-edge environmental technology, by carrying them to the world stage. In May 2008, Kawasaki founded the Global Environment Knowledge Centre, which is designed to transmit information on environmental technology for its domestic and international counterparts. In October of the same year, Kawasaki promoted its environmental advancements at the Eco Expo Asia (International Trade Fair on Environmental Protection) in Hong Kong. In February of 2009, the city hosted the Kawasaki International ECO-tech Fair 2009 and simultaneously, with support from UNEP (United Nations Environmental Programme), the 5th Asia-Pacific Eco-Business Forum. Kawasaki is contributing a wide range of technology overseas, including world-class environmental technology. |

| Local efforts to protect the environment are spreading out. In the summer of 2008, the CC Kawasaki Children Environmental Meeting was held with the participation of junior high school students. A solar power generation facility at the Kawasaki International Center (Nakahara Ward), known as the "Citizen-initiated Ohisama Solar Power Station," was established by contributions from local residents and businesses. Various other local projects such as the "Green Curtain Campaign" and "Kawasaki Water Sprinkling Campaign" are also underway. |
