Where the City Life and Old Traditions Mingle

The Miyamae Ward is surrounded by the undulating Tama Hills and retains several cultural assets, including the Higashi Takane Ruins, the ancient Maginu Ancient Burial Mound and, in particular, the Yogoji Temple that was originally built in the early 8th century and still to this day relates the culture of the Nara Period to its visitors.

With the opening of the Denentoshi Line between Mizonokuchi and Nagatsuta in 1966 and the Tomei Kawasaki Interchange on the Tomei Expressway in 1968, Miyamae has experienced rapid growth through both population and urbanization.

While maximizing the advantages of both new cultural developments and old traditions, the city strives to preserve our natural resources, promote sporting and cultural activities, and develop this community into a healthy and attractive living environment.
