DECLARATION FOR PEACE AND THE ABOLITION OF NUCLEAR WEAPONS

It is the common desire of mankind to bring about a genuine and permanent state of peace and security in the world. However,nuclear arms expansion is continuing and poses a serious threat to the very existence of the human race.

Japan, as the only country to have suffered a nuclear attack, must communicate loudly to the people of the world the horror of the atomic bomb and the agony of its victims, and must never allow the disasters of Hiroshima and Nagasaki to be inflicted again on the earth. This is a universal ideology that mankind must observe and is the only bequest we can leave future generations.

To ensure adherence to Japan's Three Non-nuclear Principles, achieve disarmament involving the abolition of nuclear weapons by the Nuclear Powers,and arouse public opinion to strive for the eradication of nuclear weapons on the basis of international solidarity and democratic principles,the City of Kawasaki hereby declares itself a city devoted to peace and the abolition of nuclear weapons.

KAWASAKI CITY GOOD HEALTH DECLARATION

Everyone wants to lead a meaningfull life, healthy in mind and body. In an effort to encourage each person who lives, works, or studies in Kawasaki to work together to promote precious health, the following will be undertaken:

We will strive to foster good health by broadly promoting the benefits of Civic Health Day.
We will adopt a healthy lifestyle by making sports and exercise part of our lives and paying attention to dietary habits and leisure.
We will strive for a society replete with compassion, with loving families, the mainstay of good health, and communities in which everyone can live safely and securely.
Making the most of our bountiful resources, including aquatic areas such as the Tama River and oceanside and the natural greenery of the Tama hills, we will strive to create an environment that offers peace of mind in support of good health. Kawasaki City, long and narrow in shape and encompassing a richly varied topography, is our home town. To create a humanistic city which faces the future optimistically and a community whose length and breadth resounds with exuberant voices, we hereby declare that Kawasaki City supports good health.
