| The Tama River Project, which aims at developing the appealing attributes of the Tama River, is created as part of the city's comprehensive plan to effectively make use of its natural environment and water recourses in urban planning. |
The city is striving to create a sustainable future for all citizens by implementing environmentally friendly recycling systems as well as policies that will preserve our surrounding environment.
Citizens, businesses and city administration must consider and take responsibility for the affects their activities have on the environment. In order to realize a sustainable society, the city endeavors to prevent the greenhouse effect from a grass roots level by expanding systems of recycling / reuse, promoting new recycling programs, and restricting emissions and the output of waste products.
In the process of creating a comfortable surrounding environment for its residents, the city steadily implements environmental countermeasures concerning water, air, and vehicle emissions, etc., and promotes similar countermeasures for Dioxin, PCBs, as well as other harmful chemicals. Moreover, the city makes every effort to appropriately dispose of non-recyclable/reusable waste in order to mitigate their effect on the natural environment.
