| Redevelopment of the city's coastal area |
In realizing the concept of "International Environment Special District", which aims to revitalize industry, urban infrastructure, and environment in the city's coastal area, the city plans to strengthen the area's competitiveness internationally through utilizing its superior qualities and location in the greater Tokyo Metropolitan area as well as apply its environmental technologies to international assistance programs. Furthermore, the city endeavors to promote the formation of a central hub for advanced research and development institutes in addition to support the formation of a distribution base that combines the enhancement of the Port's functions with its excellent land, sea and air connections.
Also, in creating a robust local community and enriching, comfortable living environment for its residents the city will construct a defined industrial base through enhancing the manufacturing sector, continuing its accumulation of industries and attracting new industries. Along with plans to support environmental, health and welfare sectors, the city will provide assistance for newly formed venture businesses and those involved in novel, challenging fields with the aim of establishing industries that will infuse a new source of vitality into the local economy.
