Citizens' Ombudsman System: Dealing with Citizens' Grievances Connected with Government

The city's Ombudsman System has been active in advocating for the rights of the residents since its launch in 1990. "Ombudsman" is a Swedish term that means "citizen representative". The primary duty of an Ombudsman is protecting the rights of city residents by resolving their complaints and issues relating to the city government as well as monitoring the development and implementation of city ordinances and policies on behalf of the residents. When deemed necessary, an Ombudsman may also advise and make recommendations to the mayor, local government and agencies in improving existing local public services.
