Kawasaki - a Sustainable City of Stimulating and Enriching Lifestyles
Fostered by the riches of the Tama River, Kawasaki played a pivotal role in supporting the Japanese economy and industry as the heart of the Keihin Industrial Zone during Japan's rapid economic growth period. Today, Kawasaki has transformed into one of the world's leading industrial cities that calls home to a great number of research and development institutions of Japan's most advanced industries.At the same time, Kawasaki is a city endowed with an abundance of natural attractions including the Tama Hills and Tama River, rich in arts and cultural offerings such as music and movies, and blessed with outstanding human resources, including nationally and internationally prominent individuals.
In addition to actively disseminating the charms of Kawasaki to other parts of Japan and abroad, the city is committed to furthering its own urban development to allow each and every city resident to share a sense of attachment and pride in their city. The establishment and opening of Lazona Kawasaki Plaza by the west exist of JR Kawasaki station, for example, is one project under this urban planning scheme. Moreover, the city's concept of music-based urban planning with MUZA Kawasaki Symphony Hall as a primary symbol, as well as projects to further develop the Tama River area utilizing its available natural resources, and nurturing of emerging R&D intensive sectors that the city is undertaking are all part of this development strategy.
