3rd IFAF World Championships 2007 in KAWASAKI / JAPAN |
The 3rd IFAF World Championships, World Cup of American Football, will begin at Todoroki Athletics Stadium (Nakahara ward,Kawasaki) on Saturday, July 7th 2007. Six teams from around the world that won their respective regional qualifying tournaments,including the United States, where the sport of American football originates,will face off to determine the title of world champion, with the final match to take place on Sunday, July 15th 2007.
In order to ensure the success of the 3rd IFAF World Championships 2007 as well as taking the distinct opportunity that this event offers to instill vibrancy into the local community, the City of Kawasaki is working collaboratively with various organizations on event management and administration, PR activities, tourism and commercial promotion,and promotion of American football as a sport. Organizations working hand-in-hand with Kawasaki on these activities include the World Cup Support Committee consisting of representatives from trade, manufacturing,and sports sectors, as well as the World Cup Organizing Committee, main organizer of the event.
Since the City of Kawasaki won its bid to host the 2007 World Cup championships, Takao Abe, Mayor of Kawasaki, has emphasized repeatedly his desire to develop Kawasaki into a Japanese base of American football and commitment to extend full support and assistance to the upcoming event.
Kawasaki is actively promoting football and increasing public awareness of the IFAF World Championships 2007 through collaborating with the Fujitsu Frontiers, a partner in the promotion of hometown sports, as well as through conducting PR activities during the games of Japan's X-League (Japan's professional American Football League)and the Kanto Collegiate American Football Association.

On July 24, 2006, the wrapping of two buses with the 2007 World Cup logo and images of the Japanese national team was completed. These two buses will go around Kawasaki station and Musashi-Kosugi station areas in order to further promote awareness and raise anticipation of the World Cup. |
