Kawasaki City Representative Assembly for Foreign Residents New Member Application Notice
The 7th term of the Representative Assembly for Foreign Residents will begin from April 2008.
The Kawasaki City Representative Assembly for Foreign Residents was established by ordinance as a venue for foreign residents, who are members of the community, to investigate various problems encountered in their lives.
The meetings are held about eight days per year. In addition to the meetings, the representatives hold other activities, such as various committees and field trips. The term of office fot the 7th Assembly is two years, April 1, 2008 to March 31, 2010.
Anyone who fulfills conditions 1 through 3 is eligible to apply.
- Those born on or before April 2, 1990 (18 years of age or older).
- Those who completed foreign registration in Kawasaki City on or before April 1, 2007.
- Those who are able to read (with hiragana readings over the kanji) and discuss matters in Japanese.
Assebbly meeting are open to the public.
The Kawasaki City Representative Assembly for Foreign Residents was
established with the purpose of providing a forum for foreign residents to
contribute to the formation of the local community, promote mutual
understanding, and promote foreign resident participation in the city
administration.
The Assembly meets four times a year for two days each session. The
Assembly compiles the discussion results as a report and submits it to the
mayor. The mayor then reports the assembly results to the Kawasaki City
Council as well as officially announcing to the public.
