!

The Representative Assembly for Foreign Residents was established in 1996 in accordance with a city ordinance to promote mutual understanding and create better local communities. Assembly memberts choose several themes from among the problems that foreign residents face every day, conduct research into those topics, discuss their findings,and make proposals to the mayor. This is your chance to ensure that your voice is heard by the city administration.
Term: April 1, 2012 to March 31, 2014(two years)
(Civil servant position for special government service. You will receive remuneration for attending meetings.) 
 Description of activities:  Participate in meetings held approximately eight times a year (generally held on Sundays and conducted in Japanese).
 Eligibilty:  Individuals who have been registered as foreign residents in Kawasaki for at least one year and are 18 years of age or older.
 How to apply:   Send in your application by December 14, 2011 (as indicated by the postmarl on the envelope)

The Eighth Representative Assembly for Foreign Residents has had its final meeting of the FY2010 meetings.

For more details of activities, see the FY2010 Annual Report which can be viewed at libraries and Civic Halls in Kawasaki.

Eighth Representative Assembly Convenes
The representatives, from 17 countries and regions convenes on April 25 (Day1 of the first meeting) at the Kawasaki International Center.
Many of this term's representatives are new to the Assembly. We look forward to the activities of the Representative Assemly this term.

Foreign Residents issue ; Four Proposal
The Seventh Representative Assembly for Foreign Residents developed proposals based on four themes:
  1. Bolster support to help children with foreign backgrounds advance to high school.
  2. Expand educaion for multicultural understanding in elementary and junior high schools.
  3. Create systems that provide foreign residents secure access to health care in their communities.
  4. Cultivative people with the specialized knowledge needed to respond to the various consultation needs of foreign residents and facilitate support for problem solving.

The Kawasaki City Representative Assembly for Foreign Residents was established with the purpose of providing a forum for foreign residents to contribute to the formation of the local community, promote mutual understanding, and promote foreign resident participation in the city administration.The Assembly meets four times a year for two days each session. The Assembly compiles the discussion results as a report and submits it to the mayor. The mayor then reports the assembly results to the Kawasaki City Council as well as officially announcing to the public.
