川崎市は、かつて深刻な公害を経験した都市です。しかし、公害克服の過程において集積した高度な環境技術、エネルギー有効活用などのノウハウは、今や川崎市の一番の強みとなっております。現在、国連環境計画（UNEP）との連携や海外都市との産業交流などにより、アジアへの環境技術の移転を通じた国際貢献を推進しております。 川崎市では、「環境」と「経済」の調和と好循環を推進し、持続可能な社会を地球規模で実現するため、 2008年2月カーボン・チャレンジ川崎エコ戦略（CCかわさき）を発表しました。環境分野における国際貢献をその一つの重要な柱として位置づけております。川崎市は、今後も「低炭素・資源エネルギーモデル産業都市」として、環境技術を通じ国際社会へ貢献してまいります。
Kawasaki City was once beset by serious pollution. However, the advanced environmental technology, energy efficiency and other skills it has acquired in the process of eliminating that pollution are now the city’s greatest assets. Today, throughcooperation with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and industrial interaction with cities abroad, Kawasaki City is using the transfer of environmental technology to Asia to contribute to the global community. The city of Kawasaki announced its Carbon Challenge Kawasaki Eco-Strategy (CC Kawasaki) in February 2008 to promote a harmonious integration of the environment and economy, and create a sustainable community on a global scale. Contributing to the global community in the area of environmental issues is one of the key features in that strategy. The city is committed to continuing its contribution to the global community through environmental technology as “a model natural resource and energy efficient industrial city with a low carbon emissions”.
