Foreign Resident Registration

Foreign nationals intending to reside in Japan for a period of 90 days or more are required to register at the ward office, and individuals 16 years of age or older must carry their certificate of Alien registration at all times.

Initial Registrations (upon entering Japan)

Foreign nationals intending to reside in Japan for a period of 90 days or more are required to register at the ward office (Residents Desk, Ward Residents Section).
To register, bring your passport and two photographs (4.5 cm X 3.5 cm).
Photographs are not required for children under 16.
