It is a community facility to keep close relationship between citizens and Kawasaki port, and a symbolic building of the port which is aimed to be an international port. "Marien" is a coined word by connecting words "Marine" and "Entrance" and indicates an entrance to the global sea. This name was selected from many public offers.
