Four home appliance items specified under the Home Appliances Recycling Law

Answer

As of April 1st, 2001, the four home appliance items specified under the Home Appliance Recycling Law are not being collected by Kawasaki city due to enforcement of the Home Appliance Recycling Law.

Four home appliance items mentioned above are as follows.
Air-Conditioner
TV (including a liquid-crystal TV/plasma TV)
Refrigerator/Freezer
Washing machine/Drying machine

The retailers where you purchased any of these four home appliances recently or in the past are obliged to collect such items for disposal. Please contact the retailers in this regard.
In case there is no retailer that can collect the items nearby, you may dispose of the items by either of the following two (2) methods:
1) Take them directly to a location designated by the manufacturer for disposal
2) Have them picked up by a member retailer* affiliated with the Kawasaki City Home Appliance Recycling Council

Recycling charges are required either way.
Consumers are required to bear transportation charge when they have the item picked up by retailers.
