How can I obtain a Certificate of Registered Matters (Toukijikou Syoumeisyo) (Certified Copy / Extract from the Register (Toukibo TouShouhon)?

Answer

On the Certificate of Registered Matters (certified copy/extract from the Register), there are items related to real estate registration (land/building) as well as commercial/corporate registration (company/corporation); all are issued by the Legal Affairs Bureau (including branch bureaus and branch offices).
Certified copies and extracts from the Register were previously issued as copies from the Register, however, with the digitalization of the Register’s contents, they are now referred to as Certificates of Registered Matters.
Regarding requests of Certificates of Registered Matters for real estate registration, since accurate lot numbers (these may differ from the address) and building numbers for the requested real estate are required, please request to the Legal Affairs Bureau reception desk directly after confirming the title deed or Notice of Information for Registration Identification etc.
Additionally, regarding requests of Certificates of Registered Matters for commercial and corporate registration, the trade name (name) as well as the headquarters (primary office) of the company (corporation) are required.
Regarding requests of Certificates of Registered Matters for real estate registration and commercial/corporate registration, it can be requested not only Legal Affairs Bureau with jurisdiction over the company(corporation) or real estate, but also any other Legal Affairs Bureau. (*) For details, please contact the reception desk of a nearby Legal Affairs Bureau.

(*) Due to system limitations, Certificates of Registered Matters for some real estate and companies (corporations) may only be issuable at the Legal Affairs Bureau with jurisdiction over the real estate or company (corporation). In such cases, requests must be done again at the Legal Affairs Bureau that has jurisdiction.
