米国・ボルチモア市長から市制100周年の祝賀メッセージをいただきました

令和6(2024)年7月1日の川崎市制100周年にあたり、姉妹都市であるアメリカ合衆国・ボルチモア市のブランドン・スコット(Brandon Scott)市長から祝賀のメッセージ動画をいただきました。

Greetings from Baltimore, this is Mayor Brandon Scott. As Mayor of our proud sister city. 

I am honored to join you in recognizing and celebrating the 100th anniversary of the incorporation of Kawasaki City. 

Kawasaki and Baltimore share a very special bond. Both of our cities are full of life, energy, culture and over the years our sister city partnership has brought that bond closer together. 

Both Kawasaki and Baltimore are resilient and innovation our cities are hubs of creativity and perseverance always moving forward and finding new ways to enhance the lives of our residents. Like Kawasaki is sandwiched between Tokyo and Yokohama, Baltimore is between Washington and New York and both of our cities are surrounded by amazing harbors. Not to mention both of cities share some amazing cuisine which makes our connection so meaningful. 

I want to acknowledge and express deep gratitude for the outreach from Mayor Fukuda and the people of Kawasaki for Francis Scott Key Bridge disaster. Your support during that challenging time highlighted the strength of our friendship and the value of our connection.

And speaking of connections, we will work on having more direct flights Baltimore Washington International Airport and Haneda Airport, making it easier for our citizens to explore and enjoy the rich experiences both cities have to offer. 

On behalf of the citizens of Baltimore, I offer my warmest congratulations to the people of Kawasaki City. Here’s to another century of prosperity, innovation and friendship.

誇りある姉妹都市の市長として 川崎市制100周年を記念し、祝賀会に参加できることを光栄に思います。

川崎市とボルチモアは特別な絆で結ばれています。川崎市とボルチモア市は、ともに活気に満ち、エネルギーに溢れ、文化的な都市であり、長年にわたる姉妹都市提携により、その絆はさらに深まっています。

川崎市とボルチモア市は、ともに強靱で革新的な都市であり、常に前進し、住民の生活を向上させる新たな方法を見出す創造力と粘り強さを持つ拠点です。川崎が東京と横浜に挟まれているように、ボルチモアはワシントンとニューヨークの間にあり、両都市は素晴らしい港に囲まれています。言うまでもなく、両都市は素晴らしい料理を共有しており、それが私たちのつながりを非常に興味深いものにしています。

フランシス・スコット・キーブリッジの事故に対する福田市長と川崎市民の支援に深く感謝します。あの困難な時期における皆さんの支援は、私たちの友情の強さとつながりの価値を鮮明にしました。

また、つながりと言えば、今後、ボルチモア・ワシントン国際空港と羽田空港の直行便の増便に努め、両都市が提供する豊かな経験を市民がより簡単に探索し、楽しむことができるようにしていきます。

ボルチモア市民を代表し、川崎市の皆様に心からお祝いを申し上げます。新たな100年の繁栄、革新、そして友情に心から祝意を表します。
